The Generative Body is Emily’s approach to somatic coaching: a space to slow down, listen deeply, and explore your inner world with curiosity and care.
Drawing from years of experience in dance, somatic movement education, experiential anatomy, and embodied practice, Emily supports clients in developing a deeper relationship with their bodies, emotions, patterns, and ways of being in the world.
What is somatic coaching?
Somatic coaching works with the understanding that the body carries information, memory, intelligence, and adaptive patterns that are often overlooked in daily life.
By paying attention to sensations, emotions, impulses, movement, breath, and nervous system responses, new possibilities for awareness, choice, connection, and change can begin to emerge.
This work is collaborative, relational, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment or performance.

Emily’s Approach
Emily’s coaching practice is deeply informed by her background in dance, Contact Improvisation, somatic movement education, experiential anatomy, and community-based artistic practice.
A central thread throughout her work is creating spaces where people feel supported in listening to themselves more fully and relating to their experiences with greater compassion, clarity, and curiosity.
Emily is based in Charlottesville, Virginia and teaches dance at the University of Virginia.
